Proserpine and Surrounding AreaProserpine is known as ‘barra country’, and it is here that the avid fishermen come to catch the prized barramundi. If fishing’s not your cup of tea, why not book a horseback ride through the stunning rainforest, and catch more than a glimpse of the local native flora and fauna. Try to book around the time of the Proserpine show, or the markets (held once a month). The town is based around the sugar mill, with sugar cane farming being the major industry.
